Senthil Kumar Velusamy has a diverse work experience spanning over multiple years and industries. Senthil Kumar is currently working as a Senior Scientist at FUJIFILM Irvine Scientific since 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Research Associate at Rutgers University - Newark from 2015, where they focused on understanding the role of virulence factors of oral pathobionts and analyzing oral microbiome changes in animal models.

Before their time at Rutgers University, Senthil worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine from 2011 to 2015. During this time, they conducted research on the effects of diallyl sulfides on oral pathogens and demonstrated the importance of the antimicrobial protein Lactoferrin against oral diseases.

Prior to their tenure at Rutgers, Senthil worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at INSA Toulouse from 2009 to 2011, where they focused on the heterologous expression of Methanococcus meripaulidis Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate ferredoxin oxidoreductase (GAPOR) in Clostridium acetobutylicum for higher levels of hydrogen production.

Early in their career, Senthil worked as a Research Associate at Imperial College London from 2007 to 2009. Senthil Kumar also served as an Associate Researcher at Madurai Kamaraj University from 2005 to 2007, where they focused on cloning and overexpression of low molecular weight bacitracin for use in skin preservation in the leather industry.

Senthil Kumar Velusamy has a strong educational background in the field of biology and microbiology. Senthil Kumar began their academic journey in 1994 at Madurai Kamaraj University, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology/Biology in 1997. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Zoology/Biology from the same university, graduating in 1999. Seeking to further their knowledge and qualification, Senthil then enrolled in Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, for a Bachelor of Education degree in Biology Teaching, which they completed in 2000. Finally, they focused on their passion for molecular microbiology and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from Madurai Kamaraj University in 2007. With their extensive educational background, Senthil Kumar Velusamy possesses a solid foundation in biology and microbial sciences.
