Shan Gao

Sr. Scientist II -gene Therapy at FUJIFILM Irvine Scientific

Shan Gao has a diverse work experience in the field of biotechnology and research. Shan is currently working as a Sr. Scientist-Gene Therapy at FUJIFILM Irvine Scientific since 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Wave 80 Biosciences, Inc. where they held the positions of Principal Chemical Engineer and Senior Chemical Engineer. In these roles, they oversaw the integration of nucleic acid sample preparation, amplification, and detection for point-of-care diagnostic devices. Shan also led the development of separation techniques for plasma from whole blood in electroosmotic pump-driven cartridges. Additionally, they effectively led a multidisciplinary team to achieve milestones. Shan Gao's work experience also includes being a Research Fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital and a Doctoral Research Assistant at Columbia University, where they conducted research focused on developing selection platforms for screening peptides/proteins from combinatorial libraries.

Shan Gao obtained a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University from 2005 to 2009. Prior to that, from 1996 to 2003, they pursued their B.S/M.S. in Chemical Engineering at East China University of Science and Technology.
