James Goepel

General Counsel and Director of Education and Content at FutureFeed

James Goepel has extensive work experience in the field of cybersecurity and data privacy. James is currently working as the General Counsel and Director of Education and Content at FutureFeed. Prior to this, they co-founded CMMC Information Institute and formed consulting business Fathom Cyber. James also served as Adjunct Professor of Cybersecurity at Drexel University's Thomas R. Kline School of Law and held an advisory board member position at University of South Florida. James was a Vice President, General Counsel, Chief Technology Officer, and Director at ClearArmor Corporation where they co-created go-to-market strategies and messaging. Previously, they worked as Senior Associate General Counsel at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, Senior Patent Counsel at Unisys, and Associate and Patent Agent at Greenberg Traurig, LLP. James also worked as an engineer at Eyeticket Corporation where they deployed biometrics-based access control systems.

James Goepel holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Drexel University, which they earned from 1988 to 1993. James then pursued a Juris Doctor degree in Law at the Antonin Scalia Law School of George Mason University from 1999 to 2003. Afterward, they completed a Master of Laws degree in Intellectual Property Law from the same institution from 2003 to 2005. James also has multiple additional certifications, including being licensed to practice law in Virginia and licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. James obtained the CMMC Provisional Assessor certification from The Cyber AB in August 2022 and completed the DoD Mandatory Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) Training from the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) in December 2020.
