James Smitherman

James Smitherman is a Senior Project Engineer in Training at GAI Consultants, Inc., specializing in the design of overhead transmission projects ranging from 34.5kV to 230kV since August 2023. Prior to this role, James served as a Distribution Engineer at Enercon Services, Inc. from August 2020 to July 2023, where extensive experience was gained in designing 13kV distribution circuits for Tampa Electric Company's SPP Program, utilizing GIS, WMS, and Microsoft Office tools, particularly PoleForeman. Earlier experience includes positions as Assistant Project Manager at Strong Waterproofing, LLC, and Construction Laborer at both Strong Waterproofing and Total Demolition Services, where foundational skills in project management, scheduling, and construction were developed. James holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering/Reliability and Maintainability from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, awarded in May 2020.
