Site Reliability Engineering Lead at Gainbridge

Nick V. has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. Nick started their career as a Genius at the Apple Store in 2004 and then went on to work as a System Administrator at Raytheon Contractor for NASA JPL from 2007 to 2010. Nick then transitioned to the role of Software Engineer at Raytheon Contractor for NASA JPL until 2012, where they improved data quality and programmed mathematical analysis operations.

From 2012 to 2018, Nick founded and developed ToWatchList, a personal project that involved creating a watch-later service for internet videos. Nick developed iOS and web applications, coded JavaScript for scanning bookmarklets, and administered the web server.

Nick then joined LinkedIn as a Site Reliability Engineer from 2018 to 2019, where they ensured the stability and reliability of Identity services and led the roll-out of new microservices. Nick later worked at Apple as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer from 2019 to 2021, where they played a crucial role in the smooth launch of Apple TV+ and led the transition to Kubernetes.

In 2021, Nick joined Doma as a Staff Site Reliability Engineer, where they spearheaded the migration to Azure Kubernetes, led the adoption of monitoring tools, and mentored other engineers. Nick then had a short tenure as a Site Reliability Engineering Lead at Embark Trucks in early 2023 before the company shutdown. During this time, they planned out a paved path for AWS Kubernetes services, deduplicated parts of the Terraform Infrastructure-as-Code repository, and organized a postmortem for a security incident.

Currently, Nick is working as a Site Reliability Engineering Lead at Gainbridge, where they are leading the technical direction for the Platform Team in building foundational infrastructure.

Nick V. earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Physics from Occidental College from 2002 to 2005. Nick then pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University from 2005 to 2007.
