Randall Schmidt

Randall Schmidt has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering. Randall is currently working at Gala as a Lead Full Stack Engineer, where they started in January 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Full Stack Engineer at Gala from August 2021 to November 2022. Before joining Gala, Randall was a Freelance Software Engineer at Toptal from April 2018 to June 2021.

Randall also worked as a Localization Engineering Consultant at A Global Data Science Software Company (via Toptal) from May 2019 to May 2021. In this role, they successfully migrated the company to a new translation vendor, implemented an internal service for tracking English strings and distributing translations, and improved runtime translation performance.

Before their time at Toptal, Randall had their own consulting company called Randall Schmidt Consulting, where they served as Principal Consultant from July 2018 to May 2021. During this time, they worked on various projects, including automated forex trading algorithms, website and server development, chat bots, and Windows applications for both large corporations and individual clients.

Randall began their professional career at National Instruments in January 2014 as a Staff Software Engineer. Randall developed cross-platform test and measurement applications, acted as the main point of contact between development and localization teams, and communicated directly with customers to understand their needs. Prior to this, they interned at National Instruments in the summers of 2011 and 2012, where they worked on developing application-level measurement software for Apple iOS.

Randall Schmidt obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Randall attended the institution from 2010 to 2013.
