Patrick Buechner has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning multiple companies and roles in the gaming industry. Patrick started their career as a Media Officer at the Embassy of Australia in 1993 before transitioning to the gaming industry as a PR Manager at Maxis in 1995. Buechner joined Electronic Arts (EA) in 1998 and held various leadership roles, including VP Marketing and Marketing Director, where they played instrumental roles in the successful launches of games like The Sims and Spore. In 2011, they became the VP & Chief Marketing Officer at BioWare, where they contributed to the business planning and cultural development of the studio. Buechner then returned to EA as the VP & General Manager of Maxis Emeryville, where they successfully stabilized and improved SimCity after a troubled launch. From 2015 to 2019, Buechner served as the Head of Marketing, Community, and Research at Amazon Games, leading the team's marketing initiatives and assembling an international publishing team. Most recently, they have held positions such as Chief Marketing Officer at Manticore Games Inc., where they oversaw marketing, business development, and game development, and as a Publishing Consultant at ICO. Buechner is currently working as a Business Strategy Consultant at Gallium Studios and as an Advisor at Liminal Experiences, Inc.

Patrick Buechner attended Beloit College from 1984 to 1989, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government.
