Joe Stekli has over 20 years of work experience in various roles and industries. Joe is currently the Vice President of Science and Technology at Galvanize Climate Solutions, a position they started in October 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) from 2017 to 2022, where they held roles such as Program Manager for the Low Carbon Resources Initiative and Principal Technical Leader.
Before joining EPRI, Joe worked at Booz Allen Hamilton as the Commercial Strategy Lead for Microelectronics at DARPA from 2016 to 2017. Joe also has experience working at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) from 2014 to 2016, where they served as the Acting Program Manager for the Solar Energy Technologies Office Tech to Market Program and as the Director of the CSP Program.
Earlier in their career, Joe worked at ARPA-E as a Technology to Market Manager, advising teams on bringing new technology from the lab to the market. Joe also had a fellowship at the White House Office of Management and Budget, acting as an Examiner and assisting in budget assembly and policy drafting.
Joe's early experience includes roles at the U.S. Department of Energy as a Technology Development Manager, at SUMCO as a Process Engineer, at Micron Technology as an Engineering Shift Lead, and at Dow Chemical as an Engineering Intern.
Joe Stekli has a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Business, which they obtained from The Ohio State University from 1999 to 2004. Later, in 2007 to 2009, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business. In 2016, they completed an Executive Education program in Leadership Decision Making from Harvard Kennedy School. Continuing their education, Joe is currently working towards a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Infrastructure and Environmental Systems at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, starting in 2019 and expected to finish in 2021.
In addition to their degrees, Joe Stekli also obtained the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute in October 2015.
