Luisa Fernanda Bermudez Salazar has a strong background in plant biotechnology and functional (epi)genomics. Luisa Fernanda has held various roles throughout their career, including Head of Science at GALY, where they focused on utilizing current technologies and new techniques to generate creative solutions. Luisa Fernanda also served as a Senior Scientist, where they applied a holistic approach to plant transformation, trait development, and characterization, using a multiomics perspective.

Prior to their work at GALY, Luisa Fernanda was an Adjunct Researcher at CONICET and a professor at the Genetics Cathedra of the Faculty of Agronomy at the University of Buenos Aires. Luisa Fernanda obtained their Agronomical Engineer degree from the National University of Colombia and their PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil.

Luisa Fernanda has also worked as a Postdoctoral Associate at the Functional Genomics Group in the Biotechnology Institute (INTA-Castelar) and the Plant Molecular Genetics Lab at the Biosciences Institute, University of Sao Paulo. In addition, they have experience as a Seed Quality Control Analyst and Coordinator at Monsanto, where they were responsible for the control of phytosanitary requirements and seed viability.

Throughout their career, Luisa Fernanda has demonstrated a dedication to research and teaching, bringing a fresh perspective to their work and emphasizing the importance of aiming efforts towards specific goals.

Luisa Fernanda Bermudez Salazar earned a PhD in Plant Molecular Genetics and Metabolomics from USP - Universidade de São Paulo from 2007 to 2011. Prior to that, they obtained a degree in Agronomic Engineering from Universidad Nacional de Colombia from 2001 to 2005.
