Giuliana Medrano

Sr. Director, Quality Control Lead - Cgmp, Cell Therapies at Garuda Therapeutics

Giuliana Medrano has over 20 years of experience in Quality Control, Analytical Development, and Research. Giuliana began their career in 2001 as a Laboratory Analyst and Research Assistant at CERPER S.A. and LABGENVET Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory, where they developed molecular tests and conducted detection of avian diseases. In 2003, they moved to Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia as a Graduate Research Assistant, where they performed molecular characterization of Sarcocystis species. In 2004, they joined International Potato Center (CIP) as a Research Assistant, where they managed laboratory functions, performed experiments, wrote manuscripts, and reports. In 2006, they became a Research Assistant Professor at Arkansas State University, where they were the project leader in AState and EPSCoR-NSF projects. In 2016, they joined Le Bonheur Children's Hospital as a Research Scientist, conducting research on understanding potential interactions between the gastrointestinal mucosal immune and the enteric nervous systems. In 2018, they moved to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as a Senior Scientist I - Quality Control, cGMP, where they authored, reviewed, and approved technical documents, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), QC test methods, and analytical sampling plans. In 2020, they began working at Takeda as an Associate Director of Quality Control - cGMP, Cell Therapies, where they were a key person/SME in Tech-transfer/Qualification/Validation Protocols, Methods and Reports to GMP settings in molecular, cell-based, and potency analytical assays for CAR-T programs. Currently, Giuliana Medrano is a Sr. Director, Quality Control - cGMP, Cell Therapies at Garuda Therapeutics, where they manage QC team, operations, strategies, and schedules for in-process, release, and stability testing.

Giuliana Medrano obtained a BS Veterinary Medicine from San Marcos University in Lima, Peru in 2000. Giuliana then went on to obtain a DVM, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Colegio Medico Veterinario del Peru in 2003. Giuliana later completed an MS in Microbiology from the Universidad Nacional Federico Villarreal, followed by a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in 2006.
