Anne Trinh

Senior Computational Scientist at Garvan Institute of Medical Research

Anne Trinh began their work experience as a Chemistry Olympiad Lecturer at Australian Science Innovations in 2006. From 2010 to 2011, they worked at Biometic Pty Ltd as a Research and Development Intern and later as an Honours Research Student.

In 2011, Anne joined Cancer Research UK (CRUK) as a Ph.D. Graduate Student, where they focused on integrating 'omics analysis to improve patient subtyping, diagnosis, and treatment suitability. Anne also conducted retrospective analyses of colorectal cancer cohorts and investigated cellular heterogeneity in HER2+ breast cancer diagnosis and overall survival. Additionally, they co-led image-guided genomic image analysis to identify the prognostic value of PTEN loss in ovarian cancer.

Anne then worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Sydney for a brief period in 2011 before starting their role as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in 2016. During their time at these institutions, they investigated the role of the immune system in breast cancer progression and immunotherapy strategies. Anne independently secured $290K USD research funding for various projects, including the evaluation of immunotherapy's therapeutic potential in collaboration with a pharmaceutical company.

In 2018, Anne became a Helen Research Fellow at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where they continued their research until 2020. Anne then joined the Garvan Institute of Medical Research in 2021 as a Senior Computational Scientist.

Anne is currently the Head of Data Science at GenieUs Genomics, a position they started in July 2022. Anne also held the role of Scientific Advisor at the same company from March 2021 to September 2022.

Anne Trinh completed their Bachelor of Engineering and Advanced Science degree in Biomedical Engineering and Chemistry at the University of Sydney from 2006 to 2010. Anne then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Medical Sciences, with a specialization in Oncology, at the University of Cambridge from 2011 to 2015.
