Varshneya Rao

Varshneya Rao has a diverse work experience spanning over 11 years. Their most recent position is as Head of Engineering at Gathered Here, a role they have held since July 2021. Prior to this, they worked as an Independent Consultant starting in May 2019, where they focused on building a more secure web ecosystem and developing Node.js based services with a React/Vue UI.

From January 2020 to July 2021, Varshneya served as a Principal Engineer at Airmeet.com. Before that, they worked for Zynga as a Senior Game Engineer from June 2017 to May 2019. In this role, they developed new features for the Farmville 2 franchise and led a team to develop an HTML+JS game engine. Varshneya also automated developer operations and introduced clean coding practices for better reuse and maintenance.

From 2013 to 2017, Varshneya worked at MaaS360 by Fiberlink, an IBM company, as a Software Engineer. Varshneya developed frameworks to support Windows devices on the MaaS360 platform and received Outstanding Technical Achievement Awards for their work. Varshneya also developed a secure container application for managing enterprise data on the Windows Phone platform.

Their earlier experience includes working as a Software Development Intern at Navyug Infosolutions Pvt. Ltd. in 2012, a Writer at 21 Fools from 2010 to 2012, and a Group Leader at the Department of CCTV from 2010 to 2012. Varshneya also had a marketing internship at Tulip Group of Industries in 2011 and was part of the editorial team at the Computer Science Association, BITS Pilani from 2010 to 2011.

Varshneya Rao completed their primary and secondary education at Naval Public School in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi from 1997 to 2009. Following this, they pursued a Bachelor of Engineering (Honors) degree in Computer Science Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, from 2009 to 2013.
