Liza Barrie

Liza Barrie is a seasoned professional with over 25 years of experience in global communications and public engagement, particularly within the realms of health and humanitarian work. Currently serving as the Campaign Director for Global Vaccines Access at Public Citizen since December 2020, Liza also holds the position of Elected Vice Chair for the Civil Society Steering Committee at Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, starting in May 2024. Previously, Liza had a long tenure at UNICEF from 1993 to 2019, where roles included Chief of Civil Society Engagement and Chief of Global Media Relations, alongside significant contributions in various divisions across the organization. Early career highlights include work as a Broadcast Journalist for BBC, Voice of America, and International Community Radio Taipei from 1987 to 1993. Liza holds a Master's degree in Journalism from Columbia University and a Bachelor's degree in East Asian Studies from Barnard College.
