David Hymas

David Hymas has an extensive work experience in the legal field. David started their career as a Summer Associate and Student Law Clerk at Payne & Fears LLP in 2000. After that, they worked as a Summer Associate at Morrison & Foerster LLP in 2001. David then served as an Attorney/Law Clerk at the Alaska Court of Appeals from 2002 to 2003. Following that, they worked as an Attorney/Law Clerk at the US District Court, District of Alaska from 2003 to 2005.

Hymas then joined Morrison & Foerster as an Attorney, where they focused on complex commercial and intellectual property disputes from 2005 to 2009. David'swork involved representing Fortune 100 companies in high-stakes patent litigation matters.

In 2009, they joined Davis Wright Tremaine LLP as an Attorney, with a practice focused on business transactions and general commercial litigation. David'sresponsibilities included drafting commercial agreements, managing litigation cases, and providing counsel to clients.

In 2012, Hymas joined GCI General Communication, Inc. as a Corporate & Regulatory Counsel. David then progressed through various roles within the company, including Associate General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, and VP, Legal & Regulatory and Deputy General Counsel. David'swork primarily involved handling legal and regulatory matters for the company.

Additionally, Hymas has held positions outside of GCI General Communication, Inc. David served as a Co-Chair of the Corporate Counsel Section of the Alaska State Bar from 2015 onwards. David also became a Board Member of ACA Connects in 2020.

David Hymas's education history began in 1987 when they attended Moreno Valley High School. After completing high school, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Public Policy with a Natural Resources Emphasis from Brigham Young University, which they obtained from 1991 to 1999.

During the same period, David also pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Public Policy with a Natural Resources Emphasis from Brigham Young University.

Following their undergraduate and graduate studies, David attended the University of California, Berkeley - School of Law from 1999 to 2002. During their time at Berkeley, they obtained a JD degree with a specialization in Intellectual Property/Environmental Law.

In addition to their educational achievements, David also holds professional certifications. David became a member of the State Bar of California in July 2003 and a member of the State Bar of Alaska in May 2010.
