Jahan-Yar Parsa

Director Of Assay Development at Gencove

Jahan-Yar Parsa has worked in various roles in the field of biochemistry and biophysics. Jahan-Yar started as a PhD Candidate at the University of Toronto in 2005. From 2012 to 2018, they were a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of California, San Francisco, where they researched chromatin biology and the study of an RNA-binding protein in gene silencing. Jahan-Yar then worked as a Research Scientist at Tecan from 2018 to 2021. In 2021, they became a Principal Scientist at the Pandemic Response Lab. Most recently, they were appointed as the Head of Assay Development at Gencove in 2022. During their time in these roles, they developed and adapted protocols for a PAR-CLIP/CRAC hybrid assay and NET-Seq, and uncovered the RNA sequence specificity of Seb1 in the centromere domains.

Jahan-Yar Parsa obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Immunology from the University of Toronto in 2012. Prior to that, they earned an Hon. BSc. (with High Distinction) in Immunology Specialist from the University of Toronto - University of Trinity College in 2005.
