Deeksha Shetty

Bioprocess Development Scientist-V & Bioinformatician at Genecis

Deeksha Shetty has worked in a variety of roles in the biotechnology and research fields since 2014. Deeksha began their career as a Regulatory Affairs Associate at Tata Consultancy Services in 2014, followed by a Research and Development Internship at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. In 2016, they took on the role of Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Saskatchewan. From 2019 to 2020, Shetty worked at Genecis Bioindustries Inc. as a Bioprocess Development Scientist-V & Bioinformatician and Microbiology Lead. In this role, they designed and optimized parameters for bacterial fermentation, facilitated technology transfer from bench scale to large scale fermentors, and carried out detection and interaction within bacterial communities using high throughput sequencing platforms. In 2020, Shetty began working as a Sessional Instructor at the University of Toronto, where they designed presentations, demonstrated techniques for molecular biology and microbiology courses, and administered and graded assignments.

Deeksha Shetty is currently working towards a Big Data and Data Science Diploma from WeCloudData, expected to be completed in 2023. Deeksha previously obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc) in Applied Microbiology (Food and Bioproduct Science Dept) from the University of Saskatchewan in 2018. Additionally, they obtained a Master's degree in Microbiology from St. Xavier's College in 2014 and a Bachelor of Applied Science - BASc in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from St. Xavier's College in 2012. Deeksha also holds certifications in Creating Reports and Presentations with R Markdown and RStudio from LinkedIn (obtained in August 2021) and R for Excel Users from LinkedIn (obtained in June 2021).
