James McFarland

James McFarland has a diverse work experience in the field of data science and research. James is currently working as the Director of Data Science at Generate Biomedicines since 2022. Prior to this, they held multiple roles at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, including Associate Director of Cancer Data Science, Group Leader, and Data Scientist, where they contributed to various cancer-related projects, developed computational methods, and built machine learning models for biomarker identification.

James also has a fellowship experience at The Data Incubator, where they underwent an intensive two-month data science training program. Before that, they worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Maryland, focusing on neural computation in the visual cortex and statistical modeling of neural representations.

In 2008, James McFarland conducted research in Neuroinformatics at the Marine Biological Laboratories at Woods Hole.
