Brennan O'Brien

Brennan O'Brien has a diverse work experience in the field of information security and management. Brennan is currently serving as the Chief Information Security Officer at Genesis Financial Solutions since December 2021. Prior to this, they worked at Columbia Sportswear Company, where they held the positions of Director of Information Security from 2018 to 2021 and Manager of Information Security from 2015 to 2018.

Before joining Columbia Sportswear, Brennan worked at UTi Worldwide Inc. as a Senior Manager of Security Operations from 2013 to 2015. In this role, they managed a global security operations program, overseeing issues related to security, user access management, compliance, e-discovery, antivirus, vulnerability management, and unified identity management.

Brennan also gained experience as a Senior Security Architect on contract at Bonneville Power Administration from 2010 to 2013. There, they acted as a program manager for IT Operation and Infrastructure Security, leading a team to re-engineer enterprise operational security systems.

Earlier in their career, Brennan served as the Manager of Network Services at Providence Health and Services from 2008 to 2010. Brennan provided hands-on management and direction to a team, overseeing the redesign of work intake and management processes and supporting the architecture, engineering, and administration of data, VoIP, and video networks.

Before joining Providence Health and Services, Brennan worked at Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield as an IT Quality Assurance and Compliance Lead from 2005 to 2008.

Brennan began their career at Columbia Sportswear as an IT Security Engineer, managing all aspects of IT security and governance and supporting Sarbanes-Oxley regulations from 1995 to 2005.

Prior to this, Brennan worked as a Network Engineer at Atlas Telecom from 1991 to 1995.

Brennan O'Brien completed a Bachelor's degree in IT Management with an emphasis on Project Management from Capella University between the years of 2002 and 2004. In addition to the degree, Brennan also obtained various certifications over the years. These certifications include Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) from IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals in December 2019, CISM from ISACA in December 2016, and CISSP from ISC2 in June 2008.
