We’re looking for a hands-on People Operations Manager focused on building the people functions, reporting to the Head of People at Genesis Therapeutics. In this role, you will be responsible for managing top-tier people programs including total rewards, HR systems and processes, and employment law and compliance. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including talent acquisition and finance to ensure cohesion across different operational areas.
What You Will Do:
Onboarding and Offboarding- Continuously improve and streamline seamless employee onboarding and offboarding experiences, partnering with our Admin & People Ops Specialist
Compensation and Benefits- Administer compensation and benefits programs, including merit cycle, equity, and other elements of total rewards
- Manage benefits plans
- Support employees in the benefits program, including new employees enrollment, annual open enrollment, and offboarding
- Administer additional perks, such as ergonomic benefits
HR Policies and Compliance- Review policies and practices to maintain compliance and maintain an up-to-date employee handbook
- Ensure compliance with the labor laws and regulations, and completion of mandatory reporting
- Stay on top of changes in employment laws and regulations, and proactively update HR policies and practices accordingly
- Administer leaves of absence, including short and long-term disabilities, FMLA, PFL, CFRA, PDL, unemployment claims, and workers’ compensation
- Serve as the point of contact for immigration-related matters, including visa sponsorships and work permits
HR Processes, Systems and Analytics- Drive current state process documentation and discovery
- Design future state processes in partnership with process owners
- Building and managing workflows, and partnering with managers to support key employee milestones and moments of recognition, such as review cycles, promotions, equity re-ups, etc
- Optimizing our people systems to keep them up-to-date and easy to use
- Develop and manage HR analytics that provide insight into our people matters
Culture and engagement- Partner with the Head of People to develop and implement people programs that build employee engagement and retention
- Promote a culture of collaboration by fostering transparent and inclusive communication with employees
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree or relevant HR certifications a plus
- Minimum 5 years of experience across People Operations, with an emphasis on total rewards, compliance, and HR operations and/or HR analytics
- Experience in a high-growth startup environment is a plus
- Strong people skills and an ability to connect and support employees at all levels
- In-depth knowledge of Federal, California, and local labor and regulatory requirements
- Detailed knowledge and expertise in HR policies and procedures
- Strong strategic thinking, project management, and decision-making skills. Flexibility to work in an environment with shifting priorities and ambiguity
- Strong communication skills, critical thinking, and attention to detail
- We take data seriously; you are a wizard when it comes to HR analytics, and systems / excel proficiency
- Proficient in HRIS (e.g., Paylocity), ATS, Google Workspace, Microsoft office including Excel, and related software
