Stefan Schmitt

Stefan Schmitt has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several notable companies. Stefan is currently serving as the Vice President of Engineering at Gentherm, where they oversee Advanced and Application engineering, focusing on driving innovation and scalability for software enabled comfort and wellness solutions. Prior to their role at Gentherm, Stefan was the Vice President of Advanced Engineering at the same company, leading the development and production launch of the innovative ClimateSense solution.

Before joining Gentherm, Stefan held various leadership positions at Bosch. Stefan served as the Vice President of Engineering and Product Management, overseeing a global team of 500 engineers and product managers. In this role, they led the digital transformation of the company, implementing software and cloud business models and technology. Stefan also served as the PMI Leader for global services, where they successfully managed the transformation of after-sales organizations and consolidated multiple regions into one global profit center.

Stefan has a strong background in software engineering as well. Stefan served as the Vice President of Software Products at Bosch, where they managed the product portfolio for auto repair shops globally. Stefan implemented the digital and cloud transformation strategy, achieving market leadership in Aftermarket Diagnostic Products, Software, and Services. Additionally, Stefan held the position of Director of Software Engineering, leading a team of up to 300 people and doubling efficiency while implementing CMMI L3.

Earlier in their career, Stefan worked at T-Systems International, where they held various managerial roles. Stefan successfully managed the engineering services organization and turned it around to achieve growth and profitability. Stefan also built and led the business development and consulting organization for PLM engineering services, acquiring projects with notable companies such as Fairchild Dornier, Audi, BMW, and EADS. Stefan began their career as a Software Engineer at Bittner+Krull Softwaresysteme GmbH.
