David Castaneda has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. David started their career as a Mine Maintenance Engineer at Minera Yanacocha in Peru, where they effectively managed a budget of $20M per year and oversaw a team of 60 people. David then moved on to become a Cost Control & CAPEX Manager at the same company, where they implemented financial and operational models to build the annual and 10-year business plan, with a budget of $100M per year.
After that, they joined Newmont Mining Corporation as an Operational Excellence Manager, where they built financial models and promoted best practices in business processes and cost accounting. David also led global teams through the Operational Excellence Program, aimed at optimizing and standardizing maintenance processes across operations worldwide.
Following their time at Newmont Mining Corporation, Castaneda worked at Black & Decker as an MBA Intern in the Financial Development Program, analyzing the company's value drivers and presenting strategic recommendations to senior management. David then joined Chromalloy as a Financial Planning Manager, where they built business cases for manufacturing activities and recommended consolidation of manufacturing activities into one location.
Castaneda's most recent work experience has been at GEODIS, where they held several senior leadership roles. As the Senior Vice President Solutions, Project Finance, Productivity, and MHR GEODIS Americas, they built the project finance organization and led the implementation of Project Diamond, a big data analytics project that improved costing and pricing of new business opportunities. David also made on-site visits to assess underperforming accounts and identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce costs.
Throughout their career, Castaneda has demonstrated strong financial leadership, analytical skills, and the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
David Castaneda earned a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Mechanical Engineering from Universidad Nacional de Trujillo from 1992 to 1997. Later, from 2008 to 2010, they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on Finance & Strategy from Vanderbilt University - Owen Graduate School of Management.
