Liisa Maanavilja is a Senior Researcher at the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) since January 2022, focusing on peatland carbon storages and sustainable peatland use. Prior to this role, Liisa worked at the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) as a Researcher from September 2018 to December 2021, leading projects on greenhouse gas inventory and emission mitigation in agriculture. Previous positions include Environmental Expert and GIS Analyst with Uudenmaan liitto, Transport Analyst at HSL Helsingin seudun liikenne, and Nature Surveyor at Albus Luontopalvelut. Liisa's academic background includes a Doctor of Science in Forest Ecology from the University of Helsinki, complemented by further education in Geographic Information Science and Science Communication. Liisa's extensive experience encompasses academic research, environmental planning, and data analysis, contributing to various state projects and teaching courses in peatland ecology and management.
