Kaleema Thomas has over two decades of work experience in various roles. Kaleema'smost recent position was as the Director of Health Plan Management at the Georgia Department of Community Health, which they began in May 2022. Prior to that, they were a Program Manager at the same organization from July 2019 to August 2022.
Before joining the Georgia Department of Community Health, Kaleema worked as a Senior Consultant at Dare To Achieve starting in January 2017 until August 2022. In this role, they consulted with Community Based Organizations, Non-Profits, and Government entities to develop cost-effective evidence-based programming to address high-risk and vulnerable populations.
Additionally, Kaleema served as a Public Education Specialist at the DeKalb County Police Department from October 2018 to July 2019, where they developed and supported execution of communications and stakeholder engagement strategies.
Prior to that, Kaleema held positions at the DeKalb County District Attorney's Office as the Diversion Program Director from January 2011 to January 2017, and at the DeKalb County Solicitor-General's Office as the Special Programs Coordinator from September 2009 to January 2011.
Earlier in their career, Kaleema worked as a Project Director at Communities In Schools of New Jersey from 2006 to 2008, and as a Parole Counselor at the New Jersey State Parole Board from January 2004 to 2006.
Kaleema Thomas has a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Georgia State University and a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Government from William Paterson University of New Jersey.
