Marie-Aude Bonnardot

Director - Integrated Geological Mapping at Geoscience Australia

Marie-Aude Bonnardot has extensive work experience in the field of geoscience. Marie-Aude started their career in 2003 as a Lecturer Assistant and PhD candidate at the University Nice-Sophia Antopolis in France. During this time, they taught Earth Sciences at the BSC and MSC levels and focused on geomechanical numerical modelling.

In 2006, they became a Lecturer-Researcher at the same university, where they continued teaching Earth Sciences and teaching degrees. Marie-Aude'swork also involved geomechanical numerical modelling.

Marie-Aude then joined the Bureau Recherches Geologiques et Minieres (Brgm) in France as a Geologist in 2007. Marie-Aude worked there until 2008.

From 2008 to 2009, Marie-Aude worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Australian National University. Marie-Aude was involved in various projects sponsored by DeBeers and Barrick, focusing on tectonic reconstruction models and the development of 3D geological models at a lithospheric scale.

In 2009, Marie-Aude joined FROGTECH Geoscience as a Senior Geoscientist, specializing in plate tectonics. Marie-Aude held this position until 2017 and then became a Principal Geoscientist, focusing on tectonics, until 2019.

Since 2019, Marie-Aude has been working at Geoscience Australia, initially as the Activity Leader for National Geological Mapping until 2021. Marie-Aude then served as the Director for Mineral Potential of Australia until 2022. Currently, they hold the position of Director for Integrated Geological Mapping. Marie-Aude'sresponsibilities include team leadership, national-scale datasets development, 3D geological modelling, machine learning, and change management. Marie-Aude is also co-leading the Exploring for the Future national scale project, which is part of Australia's Resources Framework.

Marie-Aude Bonnardot has an extensive education history in the field of Geosciences. Marie-Aude started their undergraduate studies in 1998 at the University Bretagne Occidentale, France, and the National University of Ireland, Galway. Marie-Aude successfully completed their Bachelor of Science Honors degree (Maitrise) in Geosciences in 2002.

Marie-Aude then pursued further academic achievements and enrolled at the University Savoie, France, in 2002. In this institution, they completed their Master of Science Research degree (D.E.A.) in Geosciences in 2003.

Marie-Aude Bonnardot's educational journey culminated with their Ph.D. studies at the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis, France, which they commenced in 2003. Over the course of three years, they dedicated herself to their research in Geosciences, demonstrating their expertise and commitment to the field.
