Hugh Barnes

Hugh Barnes is currently the Chief Data Scientist at Green Energy Options (geo), a position they have held since April 2019. Prior to this, they worked at Total Jobs Group, first as the Head of Data Science from April 2017 to April 2019, and then as the Lead Data Scientist from January 2015 to April 2017. At Total Jobs Group, Hugh was responsible for using statistics, data warehousing, programming, and machine learning to develop web-based products and provide Business Intelligence solutions. Hugh also coordinated the work of the Research and Development Team. Before joining Total Jobs Group, Hugh worked as a Quantitative Researcher at ISAM (International Standard Asset Management) from February 2013 to September 2014. Prior to that, they were a Senior Quantitative Researcher at AHL, Man Investments from December 2007 to October 2011. Hugh also worked as a Quantitative Researcher at Gloucester Research from July 2005 to September 2007. Their earlier experience includes working as a Strategist on a delta equities desk at Goldman Sachs from June 2004 to July 2005, and as a Design Engineer at HM Government Communications Centre from September 1999 to July 2004.

Hugh Barnes completed their Bachelor's degree in Physics from the University of Cambridge in 1998. Hugh then pursued a Master's degree in Signal Processing from the University of Bristol, which they completed in 1999. Subsequently, Hugh went on to obtain a PhD in Signal Processing from Imperial College London in 2003.
