Director Business Development At The Comparative Medicine And Bioimage Centre Of Catalonia (cmcib) at Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP)

Míriam Gironès has a diverse and extensive work experience in various roles and organizations. Míriam is currently the Director of Business Development at the Comparative Medicine and Bioimage Centre of Catalonia (CMCiB), starting in January 2023. Previously, they served as the Deputy Director at the Institut d'Investigació Biomèdica de Girona (IDIBGI) from September 2019 to February 2022, where they were responsible for managing scientific and strategic aspects of the institution and leading the Innovation Department. Míriam also created and coordinated IDIBGI's Business Development Unit (BDU) and Project Portfolio.

Before joining IDIBGI, Míriam worked as the Director of Business Development at Nanomi, a subsidiary of Lupin Group, from May 2012 to November 2018. During their tenure, they contributed to Alliance Management and enabled the continuous growth and expansion of Nanomi's Complex Injectable for sustained drug delivery portfolio. Míriam was also a member of Nanomi's Executive team from 2012 to 2014.

Míriam began their career at Nanomi in 2006, initially as an Applied Research Engineer and then as a Senior Development Engineer. Míriam later took on the role of Business Developer, focusing on customer acquisition, partner collaborations, and technology licensing. Míriam also represented Nanomi as a speaker in international Pharmaceutical/Drug Delivery congresses.

Prior to their time at Nanomi, Míriam worked as an Assistant Professor on tenure track at the University of Twente from May 2011 to May 2012 and as a Project Leader R&D at Nanomi from April 2010 to May 2011. At the University of Twente, they also conducted postdoc research from January 2006 to December 2006 and completed their PhD in Chemical Engineering from December 2001 to December 2005. Míriam started their research career as a Research Fellow at the same university from November 2000 to September 2001.

Overall, Míriam Gironès has demonstrated a strong background in business development, strategic planning, project management, and research in the fields of biomedicine and drug delivery.

Míriam Gironès obtained a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering (Membrane Technology) from the University of Twente from 2001 to 2005. Prior to that, they completed an M.Sc. in Chemistry at the Universitat de Girona in 2001.

Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP)

The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) is a public research centre located in Badalona. Its main objective is to increase scientific knowledge in order to transform it into solutions to improve the health and medical care of patients and the community. The Institute is associated with one of the major university hospitals in the Barcelona area, the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital, and is part of the Can Ruti biomedical campus. IGTP is a CERCA centre and is also accredited as a centre of excellence by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII) and is in charge of coordinating the management and scientific strategy of the campus, working in close collaboration with the other centres.
