Job description

Flex is a growth-stage, NYC headquartered FinTech company that is creating the best rent payment experience. It’s hard to believe that it’s 2024 and paying rent on time is expensive, inflexible, and difficult. We’re here to change that! Flex enables our users to pay rent throughout the month on a schedule that better fits their finances and budget. Our mission is to empower as many renters as possible with flexibility over their most significant recurring expense. After deliberately keeping a stealth profile as we built up unprecedented investor support and an enthusiastic user base, we are looking for motivated individuals to help us keep our mission growing. Will you be a part of the team?

What you’ll do

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive public policy strategy that addresses both state and federal issues impacting Flex.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, analyze potential impacts on the business, and develop strategic responses.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in government, industry associations, and advocacy groups.
  • Lead policy advocacy efforts, including drafting position papers, comments on proposed regulations, and other materials to effectively communicate Flex's views.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Legal, Compliance, and Operations, to ensure alignment between business practices and public policy goals.
  • Represent Flex in public forums, conferences, and policy discussions, serving as a spokesperson on policy issues.
  • Advise senior leadership on public policy matters, contributing to strategic decisions.

Key qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in public policy, government affairs, or a related field, with a focus on fintech or financial services. Experience in multifamily housing policy is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Law, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing policy strategies at both state and federal levels in at least one in-house role.
  • Strong understanding of the U.S. legislative and regulatory process; experience within or engagement with consumer protection regulators (e.g., CFPB, FTC) preferred.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to build and maintain relationships with external partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel as required for meetings, conferences, and other events.
