About the role

We are seeking an experienced State Licensing Manager to join Flex’s growing Legal & Compliance team. In this key role, you will provide vital support to cross-functional partners and product teams, overseeing all aspects of licensing, compliance, and renewals across various jurisdictions. This position requires a strategic thinker who can navigate regulatory frameworks, build strong relationships with stakeholders, and drive licensing initiatives to support business objectives.

This is a hybrid position with on-site expectations of 3 days per week in our New York Headquarters. For candidates outside of the NY/NJ area, you may be eligible for our relocation assistance program.

What you’ll do

  • Manage the end-to-end process including renewal, and maintenance of state and local licenses, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and implement processes to ensure continued compliance with state licensing requirements.
  • Partner with legal, compliance, operations, and other teams to align licensing efforts with company goals and initiatives.
  • Develop and enhance workflows for license applications, renewals, and reporting to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
  • Act as the primary point of contact with state regulators, auditors, and external partners, fostering strong relationships to support licensing activities.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records for all licensing activities and prepare reports as needed for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify potential risks related to licensing and implement strategies to address them proactively.

Key qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Legal Studies, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in regulatory licensing, compliance, or a similar role, preferably in the fintech or financial services industry.
  • Proficiency in using licensing management tools and software. Preference for candidates with experience navigating Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS). 
  • In-depth knowledge of state licensing requirements and regulations, consumer finance knowledge is a plus. 
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with regulators and internal teams.

The compensation range for this role will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and Flex's internal leveling guidelines and benchmarks. For working locations in NY/NJ/CA, the base salary pay range will be $130,000 - $156,000. For all other states, the base salary pay range will be $123,000 - $140,000.
