Senior Data Analyst at Maple

Stephanie Tien has held a variety of roles in the healthcare and technology industries since 2017. In 2021, they began working at Maple (getmaple.ca) as a B2B Insights & Analysis Associate, where they perform text mining analyses on user comments and uses data science methods in Python to generate insights for product improvements. Stephanie is also conducting an impact study by building an economic model on the cost benefits of telemedicine to the Canadian healthcare system.

In 2019, Stephanie co-founded Arbre, a sustainable sun care brand, and raised +$50,000 in non-dilutive funding by winning 6 pitch competitions. Stephanie drove product development by researching ingredients for their proprietary formulation and working with vendors to complete lab and clinical testing for their Health Canada product license.

In 2020, Stephanie worked at Johnson & Johnson as a Health Economics & Market Access Associate, where they performed queries and analyses on Medicare data to build Tableau dashboards and conducted outcomes research and real-world evidence analyses on Medicare, Premier Healthcare, and IBM Commercial claims and hospital billing databases using R and SQL. Stephanie also worked as a Health Economics & Market Access Associate Co-Op, where they developed a health economic model of bariatric surgery used to increase patient access in the UK and launched global process improvement initiatives of the function’s SOPs and Job Aids.

In 2019, Stephanie served as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Toronto and as a Graduate Research Student at CAMH, where they performed analyses on the influence of sex differences in smoking cessation treatment. Stephanie also worked as a Research Student at the University of Toronto, where they explored the role of brain CYP2D in methamphetamine response and neurotoxicity.

In 2017, Stephanie worked as an International Summer Research Student at Masaryk University, where they researched the effect of ketamine in suppression of methamphetamine self-administration in a rat model of drug taking behaviour.

Stephanie Tien completed an Honors Bachelor's of Science in Pharmacology and Toxicology, Human Biology from the University of Toronto in 2018. Stephanie then went on to earn a Master's degree in Applied Clinical Pharmacology from the same university in 2020. In 2021, they are currently enrolled in a Health Economics program at the University of York. In addition, they obtained a Bloomberg Market Concepts certification from Bloomberg LP in June 2020.
