Alex Cook

Alex Cook has a diverse work experience in the field of product and design. They are currently serving as the SVP of Product & Design at Upside since March 2023. Prior to this, Alex worked at Asana as the Head of Design from October 2021 to February 2023.

Before joining Upside and Asana, Alex had a long tenure at Google where they held various design roles. From December 2019 to October 2021, Alex served as an Immersive UX Director, coordinating design efforts on Google Lens and Smartphone AR. They also worked as a Principal Designer from May 2012 to October 2021, leading redesigns of Google identity and Search. Additionally, Alex managed the Google Payments UX team and led the design of DoubleClick for Publishers while working in Ads & Commerce at Google. They also held the role of Payments UX Design Lead from January 2011 to April 2012.

Prior to Google, Alex worked as an Interaction Designer at DoubleClick from October 2004 to August 2005, specializing in web applications for ad management. They also have experience as a Front-end Developer at Fearless Concepts / Island Records / Def Jam from February 2003 to September 2004.

Alex Cook has a Master's degree in Information Design and Technology from Georgia Institute of Technology, which they obtained from 2000 to 2002. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's degree in English with a minor in Mass Communications at The University of Georgia from 1994 to 1999.
