Nick Yeo has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Nick started their career as a web design and product intern at SRECTrade, where they conducted research and analysis on renewable energy credit policies. Nick also wrote blog posts on market updates and research.
Later, they worked as a research engineer at the National University of Singapore before pursuing a PhD at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research & Technology. Their doctoral research focused on applying machine learning to large climate datasets and studying the impacts of aerosols on precipitation and hydrology.
After completing their PhD, Nick joined AI Singapore as an AI engineer, where they deployed machine learning applications and designed data pipelines and infrastructures for AI use cases. Nick also conducted community outreach through the Artificial Intelligence for Industry program.
Currently, Nick works at GIC as a senior data scientist, where they leverage their expertise to support data-driven decision-making. Nick was promoted to the role of Lead Data Scientist in 2023.
Nick Yeo completed their education at various institutions and acquired multiple degrees and certifications. Nick obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the National University of Singapore from 2014 to 2019. In 2017 and 2018, they participated as a Visiting Researcher in the Joint program for the science and policy of global change at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Prior to that, from 2009 to 2014, they completed a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Environmental Science and Engineering with a focus on solar, clean energy, and renewable energy at the National University of Singapore. Nick also pursued additional studies in product management at NUS Overseas Colleges in 2011-2012 and obtained a minor in technopreneurship with NUS from Stanford University during the same period. Moreover, they have obtained several certifications including Reinforcement Learning Specialization from Coursera (year not provided), Building Resilience as a Leader from LinkedIn in 2020, and Intermediate SQL from DataCamp in 2020.
