Walter Menendez

Walter Menendez has a diverse work experience in various companies and roles. Walter started their career as a Program Assistant at the MIT Office of Minority Education in 2012. Walter then worked as a Developer at Tree St., Inc from December 2012 to February 2013. Later in 2013, they joined MIT as a UPOP member and also took on the roles of Vision Blocks - Front-End Developer and UROP, AIGRE at the MIT Media Lab.

In 2013, Walter also worked as a Search and Discovery Engineering Intern at Tumblr and as a Developer for LuminAR at the MIT Media Lab, where they focused on application development for the LuminAR platform, specifically in gaming and graphics. Walter worked with the Lens API to create gaming/graphics applications and used contour detection algorithms for object manipulation.

In 2014, Walter worked as an MMS Engineering Intern at MongoDB. In 2015, they joined BuzzFeed as a Data Engineer, focusing on improvements to the internal event collection system and ETL pipeline. Walter was promoted to Senior Data Infrastructure Engineer in 2017.

In 2015, Walter also worked at the MIT Media Lab as a Developer at CityScope, where they focused on building simulations of city planning models using 3D projection mapping and visualizing data sets on city landscapes.

Walter'smost recent role has been as a Senior Data Engineer at GIPHY since 2018.

Walter Menendez completed their education from 2011 to 2015. During this period, they attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering. Walter also earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Computer Science from the same institution.
