Amelia Wattenberger

Amelia Wattenberger is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in research engineering and user experience design. Currently serving as a Principal Research Engineer on the GitHub Next team since January 2024, Amelia previously held the same role at GitHub from March 2021 to July 2023, alongside a position as Staff Research Engineer. Amelia's background includes a stint as a Design professional at Adept and as a Senior Journalist-Engineer at Polygraph/The Pudding. Prior roles include Senior UX Engineer at Parsely, Inc. and front-end web developer at Umbel, where responsibilities involved enhancing product experience and ensuring compliance with performance standards. Amelia also has a foundation in user experience from an internship at OwnLocal and a strong academic background, with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience & Psychology from Trinity College-Hartford and research experience at the University of Texas at Austin.
