Walter Leiva

Walter Leiva has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Walter has worked as the Chief of Party and Operations Manager for the USAID Project NIDO at Glasswing International since 2021. Prior to that, they served as a Public-Private Partnerships Analyst at FOMILENIO II from 2018 to 2021, where they managed contracts and financial implementation. Walter also has experience working with the Open Government Partnership as an IRM Report Production Specialist, where they reviewed progress reports and led the editorial process. Walter has also worked as an Open Data Inventory Assessor at Open Data Watch, a Graduate Research Assistant at American University, and a Strategic Partnerships Intern at Global Communities. Before that, they served as a Regional Aid Officer and Communications Officer at the Secretaría General del Sistema de la Integración Centroamericana (SG-SICA). Walter started their career as a Customer Development Intern at Unilever and as an Office of the Assistant Secretary General Intern at the Organization of American States in 2010. Overall, Walter Leiva has developed expertise in project management, financial planning, report production, and partnership development.

Walter Leiva obtained a Master's Degree in International Development from American University, graduating in 2017. Prior to that, they pursued a major in Marketing at Universidad Centroamericana José Simeón Cañas from 2005 to 2012. In 2009 to 2010, they also completed a program called "Abroad at AU" focused on Marketing at American University's Kogod School of Business. In terms of additional certifications, Walter Leiva obtained the Certified Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) Foundation from APMG International in August 2019.
