Richard Martin has extensive work experience in engineering and maintenance roles. Richard began their career as a Machinist Mate 2nd Class in the US Navy, where they supervised and trained personnel and maintained auxiliary steam and hydraulic systems on-board ship. After leaving the Navy, Richard worked as a Maintenance Technician at Ortho Organizers, where they performed maintenance on manufacturing and auxiliary equipment and supervised metal injection molding processes. Richard then transitioned to a role as a Maintenance Technician at Invitrogen before returning to Ortho Organizers as a Project Engineer and Facilities Manager. In this role, they managed new product development, determined manufacturing processes, and ensured compliance with ISO and FDA requirements. Richard later worked as an Operations Project Engineer at Lancer Orthodontics and as an Engineering Tech at REVA Medical, Inc. Currently, they are employed as a Principle Engineering Technician at Glaukos Corporation.

Richard Martin attended California State University San Marcos from 1999 to 2002, where they studied Mathematics. After that, they enrolled in MARIC COLLEGE from 2002 to 2003 and obtained an A.S. Degree in Network Engineering Technologies. Prior to that, from 1995 to 1998, they attended MiraCosta College and earned an A.S. Degree in Physical Science. In 1988 to 1989, Richard attended the Naval Nuclear Power Propulsion School, ORLANDO NTC, but no degree or field of study information is provided for this period.
