David Hutchison

David Hutchison serves as the Director General of Trade Strategy at Global Affairs Canada since October 2018, following a previous role as Executive Director of the Trade Portfolio and Strategy. With extensive experience at Global Affairs Canada spanning from 2001 to 2018, David held several key positions, including Director of the Trade Portfolio and Strategy and Foreign Service Officer. Additional roles include First Secretary (Political) at the Embassy of Canada from 2008 to 2012 and various positions in government and academia, including a Parliamentary Intern and tour guide at significant Canadian historical sites. David holds a Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of Alberta and has completed executive education at Harvard Kennedy School and the University of Oxford, along with being a Fellow at Queen's University.
