Marc-André Desmarais

Marc-André Desmarais currently serves as Second Secretary (Political Affairs) at the High Commission of Canada in the United Kingdom since September 2023. Desmarais has been a Foreign Service Officer with Global Affairs Canada since September 2021, where responsibilities have included leading the development of GAC’s Multilateral Development Strategy and conducting consultations with various stakeholders. Prior experience includes working as an International Trade Policy Adviser at the European Parliament from May 2017 to July 2021, focusing on WTO reforms and international trade policy. Desmarais also served as Head of the Brussels Office for a Member of the European Parliament and worked as a Producer at Caledonia Media. Educational background includes a Master of Arts in European History from UCL and Bachelor's degrees in History from Université Paris-Sorbonne and Université de Montréal.
