Yeh Tsai

Technical Program Manager at Global Compound Semiconductor

Yeh Tsai has worked in the semiconductor industry since 2007. From 2007 to 2010, they were a Research Assistant at the Institute of Atomic and Molecular Science, Academia Sinica and the Nanoelectronic and Nanophotonic Materials Lab at National Taiwan University. Here, they developed thin-film oxide growth by ALD on nano-textured silicon wafers and analyzed optical properties of different material-based thin-film oxide passivation layers on Si substrate. Yeh also applied thin-film oxide layer on optoelectronic devices, LED and solar cell, to improve devices' performance.

In 2012, Tsai was a Teaching Assistant at the University of California, San Diego. Here, they lectured three times a week in the Chinese language program, corrected students’ pronunciation, grammar, and writing, and interacted with students in one-on-one conversation practice, mini-games, tongue twisters, and acting.

From 2013 to 2016, Tsai worked at Global Communication Semiconductors, Inc. as a Process Integration Engineer. Here, they provided technology support for processes, test data analysis, and quality assurance for the photodetector production line, which generates 50% of the company’s revenue. Yeh also conducted failure analysis for devices to improve yields and developed processes for GaAs/InGaAs/InP-based optoelectronic devices and foundry services.

From 2016 to 2019, Tsai worked at Pegatron as a Section Manager - Quality Program Management. Here, they served as NPI leader of SQE and IQC to ensure quality of raw materials, conducted failure analysis results to customer/vendor and drove execution of corrective actions, and coordinated test equipment procurement with customer.

Tsai returned to Global Communication Semiconductors, Inc. in 2019, where they have since served as a Technical Program Manager and Senior Process Integration Engineer. In this role, they have served as a project manager in the development of VCSEL, photodiode and RSOA, coordinated with customers on layout design, process flow and test set up, and evaluated cost of foundry service.

Yeh Tsai's education history began in 2003 when they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Materials Science and Engineering from National Taiwan University. In 2007, they earned a Master of Science (M.S.) in Materials Science and Engineering from the same university. In 2011, they began a Ph.D program in Materials Science and Engineering at UC San Diego, which they completed in 2012. Finally, in 2012, they obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) in Nanoengineering from UC San Diego.
