Terry Wilson

Global Partnership Officer at Global Cyber Alliance

Terry Wilson has over 30 years of experience in law enforcement and cyber security. Terry began their career in 1986 as a Police and later Detective Constable with the Metropolitan Police, where they successfully investigated reported crimes impacting local communities. In 1994, they were seconded to the South East Regional Crime Squad, where they were part of a proactive detective capability combatting the importation and distribution of controlled drugs and the laundering of the financial proceeds of drug trafficking. For this work, they were awarded an Assistant Chief Constable's Commendation for Leadership, Professionalism and Detective Ability.

In 1998, Terry joined the Metropolitan Police Anti-Corruption Unit as a Detective Sergeant, representing the Metropolitan Police and leading a team integral to a wider multi-agency taskforce combatting corrupt police officers involved in serious and organised crime. For this work, they were awarded the Kent Constabulary Chief Constable's Certificate of Merit for Professional Ability and Tenacity in the Investigation of Organised Serious Crime.

In 2000, Terry joined the Metropolitan Police Flying Squad as a Detective, where they led and managed proactive/reactive investigations against serious and organised crime groups committing armed robbery offences against the business community in London and the Home Counties. Terry also managed high risk, threat to life firearms operations under extreme and ever evolving pressurised circumstances.

In 2009, Terry was recruited by the National Policing Lead to build a pioneering national cyber crime capability. Terry achieved instant success with the arrest and convictions of a cyber crime cell secreted into the UK and activated to attack and steal large sums of money from compromised accounts of UK banking customers.

In 2013, Terry joined the National Police Cyber Crime Programme (NPCC) as the National Police Cyber Crime Programme Lead. In this role, they developed national strategy, created minimum standards and built national policing capability to deliver a victim focused response to cyber dependent and cyber enabled crime impacting regional and local communities.

In 2017, Terry joined Global Cyber Alliance as a Global Partnership Officer and eventually became the Director Outreach for the UK, Europe, Middle East & Africa.

Terry Wilson attended Knockbreda High School in Belfast, N.Ireland.
