James Armstrong has a strong background in media and communications with experience in various roles. James started their career in 2006 as the VP of Marketing for CANFAR, a non-profit organization focused on raising awareness and funds for AIDS. James developed educational campaigns and implemented advertising strategies for fundraising activities.

In 2008, James worked as an Editor and Writer for Insite - Sheridan Institute, where they organized and managed story meetings and efficiently edited and wrote content for the internet.

In 2009, James joined Global News as an Assignment Coordinator, monitoring breaking news and producing stories. James later became a Senior Web Coordinator, managing the editorial direction and social media presence of Globalnews.ca/Toronto.

Since 2015, James has held the position of Managing Editor, Breaking News and Investigative at Global News, where they lead the editorial strategy and manages large teams across Canada. James has demonstrated the ability to creatively manage resources and develop the skills of team members, contributing to sustained record-breaking traffic for Global News.

Most recently, in 2022, James was promoted to the role of Director, Audience Engagement and Development at Global News. James works with senior leadership to develop and execute data-driven audience growth strategies, while providing insights to align ideas with business objectives.
