Philippe Alen

Philippe joined Galapagos in 2022 as Senior VP, Head of Business Development, responsible for the identification, due diligence, valuation, negotiation, execution, and implementation of new business opportunities. Philippe is a seasoned professional who brings over 20 years of experience in research, marketing and business development in academia, biotech, and pharmaceutical industries, holding various positions at Bayer, Johnson & Johnson, Janssen Pharmaceutica and Tibotec.

With a solid scientific background and business acumen, he has a track record of deal making across the value chain from discovery, early and late development to commercialization. Philippe is a driven leader, strategic thinker and trusted business partner who is committed to results. He is a strong believer in patient-centric and ethical business practices and acts as a mentor for young talents.

Philippe holds a Pharm. D. and  Ph.D. from the  KU Leuven & the Flanders Institute for Biotechnology, and an MBA from Drexel University in Philadelphia, U.S.
