Jay Lozier

Senior Medical Director, Clinical Development at GlycoMimetics

Jay Lozier has a diverse work experience in the medical field. Jay started their career as an Intern and then worked as a Resident in Internal Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After that, they specialized in Hematology, completing a Coagulation Fellowship and Hematology Fellowship at the same institution. During this time, they gained expertise in various hematologic diseases and treated patients with hemophilia and other coagulation disorders.

Jay Lozier then joined the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where they worked as a Clinical Investigator, focusing on genetics, immunogenetics, and gene therapy of hemophilia. After their tenure at the NIH, they joined the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, where they served as a Medical Officer. In this role, they reviewed biologics for the treatment of bleeding disorders and focused on the Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC) aspects of investigational and approved products.

Following their time at the FDA, Jay Lozier joined the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center, Department of Laboratory Medicine, as a Senior Staff Clinician. In this position, they continued their work in hematology and clinical research.

In 2020, Jay Lozier transitioned into the role of Principal Consultant at their own consulting company, Jay Lozier Consulting, LLC. Jay provided expert advice and guidance as a consultant before joining GlycoMimetics as a Senior Medical Director in Clinical Development later that same year.

Throughout their career, Jay Lozier has gained extensive experience in various areas of medicine, including hematology, gene therapy, regulatory review, and clinical development.

Jay Lozier attended Indiana University Bloomington from 1975 to 1979, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology. From 1979 to 1983, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Biochemistry at Indiana University Bloomington. Jay also attended Indiana University School of Medicine from 1979 to 1985, earning a Medical Degree in Medicine.

In terms of certifications, Jay Lozier obtained an Unrestricted Medical License from the North Carolina Medical Board in October 2013. Jay also received certifications in Hematology from the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2010, 2000, and 1990. Additionally, they obtained a certification in Internal Medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1988.
