Meet the team:

The 3D Designer & BIM Manager will love to draft, model and illustrate spaces, places and technology and to show them off beautifully. The ideal candidate will also be able to create a BIM library of core system components while also being able to integrate bespoke solutions in a wide variety of settings.

The 3D Designer and BIM Manager will create 3D digital prototype assets (we currently use Sketchup, and are open to identifying an optimal solution over time) to first illustrate the various infrastructure elements comprising the Glydways system. This work will provide the basis for the development and management of a fully integrated, parametric BIM library. These assets will be developed in collaboration with the commercial, system planning and engineering groups. Subsequently, they will provide a basis of design and engineering intent for collaboration with third party consultants in delivering new Glydways projects.

In addition, to creating the 3D conceptual and BIM libraries, the role will also create legible architectural plans, sections, elevations and other graphic assets to communicate both system and project elements. Finally, the Designer will support the creation of high quality renderings by third party providers. 

This position requires a creative, results-oriented individual to be able to participate in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team and to directly contribute to the design and refinement of the infrastructure elements and system plans through daily interaction (written, graphic and verbal) contributing to strong collaborative relationships among the Glydways team.  They must possess a high-level attention to detail with proven skills in producing architectural design concept drawings and graphics.

A successful candidate will be self-motivated and possess the initiative to deliver high quality, technically sound modeled and graphic assets; be flexible, well-organized, accountable and a proactive communicator.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Create 3D digital models and scenes of the Glydways System, Infrastructure, Architecture and Vehicles expanding and complementing existing assets. 
  • Quickly create and illustrate concepts from Sketchup and DWG inputs to schematic level plans and diagrams using Sketchup, Rhino, etc. 
  • Advance these 3D assets into a BIM process (i.e. Revit) yielding parametric assets that also output clear, accurate, dimensioned architectural drawings.
  • Architecture or Industrial Design background, required.
  • Manage and coordinate inputs from Commercial, System Planning and Engineering groups
  • Contribute to designing Glydways system elements for all configurations and ROW types:
  • Support documentation of Glydways Infrastructure elements and scenes in presentations, promotional materials and system catalogs. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable of 3D software workflows to illustrate urban design and infrastructure concepts (i.e. Sketchup, Rhino, Autocad, Revit, etc.)
  • Familiarity with architectural, civil and structural engineering principles 
  • Experienced in creating range of graphics from depicting urban design/ planning/ placemaking concepts to technical orthographic drawings
  • Skilled in utilizing Google Suite applications for collaborative work and publication 
  • University-level Degree from an accredited professional program in Digital Art, Industrial Design, Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture with +4-7 years experience or Masters Degree +3 years.

Salary & References:

  • Salary Range ($90,000 - $110,000 USD per year + benefits)
