Barzin Moridian has a strong background in robotics and research. Barzin started their career as a Dynamic Systems and Control Graduate Researcher at the Energy Mechatronics Laboratory (EML) in 2012. From there, they transitioned to the Nonlinear and Autonomous Systems Laboratory, where they worked as a Robotics Graduate Researcher from 2012 to 2014. During this time, they developed obstacle avoidance algorithms and built a rugged tracked robot for off-road testing.
In 2015, Barzin joined Purdue University and Michigan Tech as a Senior Research Staff. In this role, they managed development projects and supervised a team of graduate and undergraduate students. Barzin also developed reinforcement-learning path planning algorithms for mobile robots and mission planning algorithms for collaborative ground robots.
Barzin then moved to Petra in 2019, where they served as the Head of Robotics. Barzin held this position until 2023, overseeing robotics operations and advancements within the company.
Currently, Barzin works at Glydways as a Staff Autonomy Engineer, starting in February 2023. Additional details about this role are not provided.
Barzin Moridian obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology - Tehran Polytechnic in an undisclosed year. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University, which they completed in 2014.
