Qualities I value in my colleagues
The most important thing is that I can trust my colleagues to speak up when something is wrong and to do the right thing. I believe in a team-first philosophy with a bias towards action and a strong sense of ownership is the most efficient way of building something.
My communication style
As a leader I value transparency. I need to be transparent towards my colleagues so they have all the information required to do their job, similarly I need the same level of transparency. I am assertive when I need to be but welcome open communication. I appreciate when people are direct with me, and I am always genuine with my responses.
My pet peeves
In order to get stuff done we need to trust each other. This simply cannot be done when people are arrogant, not authentic or dishonest. Poor communication is also a problem, since it is a barrier to proper team work. Micromanagement is the result of lack of trust.
Fun fact
While living in San Francisco I participated in multiple Open Mic Stand Up comedy shows. People laughed, hopefully because of the jokes.
Personal Q&A
How do you like to run meetings?
A quick overview of what we are going to do in the meeting, with clear goals for the meeting. Then either open collaboration or focused presentation with audience participation. Finally, have written actionable items at the end of the meeting.
How would you describe your strengths?
I am analytical, curious, and solutions oriented. I like diving deep to understand the root cause of problems and prescribing solutions. I avoid jumping to conclusions without data, but do follow my gut in search of evidence
When are you most productive during the day?
Right before dinner
How do you like to receive feedback?
In a timely matter, with clear examples and actionable suggestions.
