Piyush Rai

Piyush Rai has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Piyush is currently working at Goldcast as the Leading backend and data, a role they started in 2023. Prior to that, they were the Head of Engineering at Goldcast from 2021 to 2023.

Before joining Goldcast, Piyush worked at LinkedIn from 2017 to 2021. Piyush initially served as a Software Engineer, then progressed to Senior Software Engineer in the Ads quality team. In this role, they were responsible for ensuring the quality of Ads on LinkedIn, flagging spam and bad ads, and modeling using Boosted Decision tree. Later, they became a Staff Software Engineer at LinkedIn, where their responsibilities included incubating the LMS Bangalore team, serving as a tech lead for ads auto review, and collaborating on future roadmaps and OKR planning.

Prior to their time at LinkedIn, Piyush was a Co-Founder at Hapoos from 2015 to 2016. Piyush was also a Co-Founder at Vauntz (acquired by Dailyhunt/Verse) from 2013 to 2014, where they developed a data analytics system using Kafka, Storm, and Elasticsearch. Piyush was able to handle a high volume of events per second and perform real-time aggregation and filtering operations.

Piyush's previous experiences include roles at Versé Innovation Pvt Ltd as a News Backend Lead, where they redesigned the entire Dailyhunt news backend using open-source technologies, and at iStream India as a Software Engineer, where they worked on various backend development tasks such as API development, search system implementation, and performance optimization.

Piyush also worked as a Product Engineer at Rediff.com and as a Research Assistant at IIIT Hyderabad, where they developed algorithms for video scene segmentation and semantic similarity.

Piyush Rai completed their high school education at St. Joseph Convent School Sagar from 1995 to 2005. In 2005, they then attended St. John's Senior for two years, where they pursued the +2 degree in PCM (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics). Piyush went on to obtain a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree in Computer Science from the International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIITH) from 2007 to 2011. In addition to their formal education, Piyush has pursued various certifications to enhance their skills and knowledge. Piyush obtained certifications such as "Data Science & Analytics Career Paths & Certifications: First Steps," "Data Science Foundations: Fundamentals," and "Statistics Foundations: 1" from LinkedIn in April 2018. Prior to that, in March 2018, they obtained a certification titled "Improving Your Judgment" also from LinkedIn.
