As the organization’s Controller, you will oversee the financial health of GivePower Foundation and its four international subsidiaries. With a mature and positive perspective, you will be viewed as a critical partner in developing the organization’s strategy. Your keen attention to detail and dedication to designing scalable accounting processes and reporting enable the leadership team to make responsible decisions. In partnership with the VP of Information Systems, it will be important to continue the development of resources that enable real-time visibility of financial performance for GivePower’s various entities and departments. Your experience working with international teams enables your great appreciation for cultural differences. All of these tasks should be completed in compliance with regulations in the US and abroad while fostering a team culture that supports each team member’s ability to thrive.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounting operations including payables, receivables, payroll, tax and audit preparation. Serve as a financial advisor to the President and leadership team for strategic planning purposes
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data. Design, implement and perform regular audits of standard operating procedures that support accuracy, timeliness, scale and appropriate controls. Ensure cash reserves are adequate at all times.
  • Oversee all technical and financial reporting resources to ensure compliance with GAAP and other legal and professional requirements as well as company policies. Lead and manage the budgeting process in partnership with the VP of Information Systems.
  • Lead the organization’s annual accounting audit, including managing the relationship with external auditors
  • Implement consistent accounting policies, practices and procedures across all countries, upholding national and local regulatory standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new and proposed regulations
  • Supervise a team of employees as well as independent contractors across multiple time zones with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity

Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree (CPA or MBA a plus)

  • 5 years’ experience in executive leadership roles overseeing accounting and finance function with exceptional knowledge of accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, cost control principles and GAAP

  • Prior international scope of responsibility along with international experience in accounting for companies with multiple foreign subsidiaries requiring statutory reporting and consolidations.

  • Nonprofit experience a strong plus

  • Experience managing a team of at least 5 direct reports

  • Expert ability in managing details while keeping the big picture constantly in mind

  • Experience working with diverse skill sets and cultural backgrounds

  • Expert skills in Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint; Xero and Asana a plus

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously

  • Willing and able to work across various time zones
