Sean Coyne

Sean Coyne has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Currently, they are working at GoodRx as the Director of Software Engineering, where they manage full stack engineers across three teams to support marketing operations, personalization, and identity resolution. Prior to this, they served as the Manager of Data Engineering at GoodRx, leading a team of six data engineers to build data processing pipelines and data products. Sean also worked as a Staff Data Engineer, where they implemented an on-call process and facilitated the transition of Data Science to Astronomer.

In addition to their role at GoodRx, Sean Coyne also worked as an Adjunct Professor at the University of San Diego, where they designed and taught a course on Data Science and Cloud Computing. Before that, they were a Principal Data Engineer at GoPro, where they collaborated with Platform Engineering to design data architecture and developed analytics reports. Sean also worked at Nuna Inc. as a Lead Data Engineer and Senior Data Engineer, overseeing data pipeline operations, training, and implementing systems and processes for big data ingestion and transformation.

Earlier in their career, Sean Coyne served as the Director of New Product Development at Foxbrim, where they managed staff and oversaw the development and growth of products. Sean also held the position of Associate Director of Data Pipeline Implementation at The Advisory Board Company, managing implementations of healthcare analytics applications.

Before transitioning into the data field, Sean Coyne worked as a Software Developer at the Cleveland Clinic, where they developed web applications for clinical trial data management. Sean also gained experience as an Airport Operations Specialist at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, where they demonstrated strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Throughout their career, Sean Coyne has acquired expertise in various technologies such as Go, Python, Typescript, K8s, AWS CDK, Spark, Redshift, Lambda, ApiGateway, Amundsen, Great Expectations, DataDog, PagerDuty, Fivetran, AWS Glue, Airflow, and various APIs including Salesforce, Liveramp, Segment, Facebook, and Google Ads.

Sean Coyne obtained a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics from Kent State University, where they studied from 2006 to 2010. Sean then pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Cleveland State University from 2010 to 2012. Additionally, Sean Coyne has obtained several certifications, including Confluent Certified Developer for Apache Kafka from Confluent in December 2021, Databricks Certified Associate Developer for Apache Spark 3.0 from Databricks in October 2021, AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in September 2021, AWS Certified Developer - Associate from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in July 2019, Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) from the Project Management Institute in June 2018, Certified ScrumMaster from Scrum Alliance in August 2017, and CISSP (Associate) from (ISC)² in December 2013.
