Jacob Abernethy

Jacob Abernethy is a seasoned research scientist at Google since December 2022, with a notable academic background as an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Georgia Institute of Technology since August 2017. Abernethy co-founded BlueConduit in June 2019, aimed at using machine learning and data science to identify lead pipes for cities. Previous experience includes a visiting researcher role at Microsoft Research NYC and a three-month tenure with Google’s learning theory research group. Additionally, Abernethy was an Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan and a Simons Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, specializing in the mathematical foundations of learning theory. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Computer Science from UC Berkeley and a B.S. in Mathematics from MIT.
