Kevin Smilak

Kevin Smilak is the Senior Engineering Director for the mobile App at Google. Kevin has over 20 years of experience in software development and technology leadership.

Kevin started their career as a software engineer at Scour, a startup that was one of the first companies to develop a multimedia search engine. Kevin later became the CTO and co-founder of the company.

In 2001, Kevin left Scour to co-found Skematix, a software consulting firm that focused on developing custom applications for small businesses. After three years at Skematix, Kevin became the CTO of Rouse Asset Services, a financial services company.

Kevin joined Google in 2006, where they have held various positions in engineering and management. Kevin is currently responsible for leading the team that develops Gmail & Hangouts.

Kevin Smilak has a MS in Computer Science from Stanford University, a BS in Computer Science & Engineering from University of California, Los Angeles, and a HSD from Northgate High.
